It would be nice to have one more ally in the party besides Adam. I had been coordinating with Ryder most of the week. His cover story was that he graduated with honors at Harvard. He’s an entrepreneur. His family owns a couple of restaurant chains in New York. He invests here and there. I asked him to rent a Boxster for the night and a nice Armani suit. I also asked him to rent a ring for the night or buy a fake one that could pass as the real thing. We even agreed to rent a room in the resort to leave no doubt that Ryder and I were for real.

I guess I can't blame him too much. Holly’s a warrior like her mate and in excellent shape. Ryder had a year older brother, Riley Phillips, who also went to Flower Hills Private High School. I had merely met Ryder's brother a few times. He was a senior, while I was a freshman. I knew that he was on the football team and that he was considered a hottie, but that was almost everything I knew about him. I remembered that, unlike his cruel brother, Riley was a nice guy. He even carried me to the nurse's office after Ryder and another of Killian's friends, Sloan, had thrown that bucket of ice cubes over my head.

I smiled to myself. The door opened and Ryder was led in by another guy. "Jax! It's good to see you. I hope you have good news for me " he beamed taking his seat opposite me at the bar. He took out ice block into his cup and filled it with alcohol. Oh, that's your last drink, fool. I thought. Ryder is someone you should call devil's advocate. He was evil and killed without no mercy. He killed his wife because she saw him when he shot his brother. He even said it without remorse.

And that's unfair to Ryder. “Hara, listen to me, “Hailey said, after noticing my hesitation in agreeing with her, “Don't forget how much Roland hurt you in the past. Don't forget all the misery he put you through and how he made your life hell. You shouldn't think about him or get excited about his return. You deserve a man who loves and adores you, and we both know that man is Ryder,“

The sight of it stirred something in all of them—hope. As they descended, pack warriors noticed them, and the word spread fast. By the time they reached the edge of the dock, Alexandro himself stepped down from the ship to meet them. His eyes locked onto Edward and Jacob—and then landed on their father. “Lord Alaric,” Alexandro said. “Alpha Alexandro,” the older man replied. There was no tension this time, only shared urgency. “I brought help,” Alaric said. “This is Ysolde.” Alexandro studied her, surprised. “The witch?”

I shot him a warning glare before quickly redirecting the conversation. “How are you this morning?” I asked Rosalyn quickly. “Did you have your breakfast?” “I had pancakes.” She said, getting distracted quickly. “Oh really?” I asked, smiling at her. “I have a feeling that my little wolf will be willing to have pancakes every day,” “I had fruit, too!” She said, making me laugh as if that was supposed to change the facts.
