“Not real... won’t believe you... my choice...” Within me, Ares surged forward with protective fury, his golden presence blazing as he reached through our bond toward Athena. I felt her copper presence in return, not the warm, vital energy I’d come to expect but something diminished, fighting desperately against the darkness threatening to engulf her. Ares wrapped his obsidian self around her, offering strength, offering shelter, his massive form encircling her smaller one as if he could physically shield her from the Voice’s attack.

Raphael's pov That night, my mind kept spinning back to Athena, I hadn't even done half of the things that I had planned out before deciding to show her mercy, because of the years of loyalty she had displayed in the past. Instead of being grateful, just with a simple shove, she looked so destroyed, and her face became so flat afterwards that I could read nothing beyond her blank eyes. That look tormented me so much that even when I returned back to my personal bedchamber, I told Isabella to return to hers as well.

I almost slumped to the floor, but I grabbed Hudson’s arm just in time. He didn’t even look at me; he was still staring at her. Athena was the Alpha’s mate and was standing in front of everyone like a queen. I wanted to scream. She didn’t even look our way and just stood beside the Alpha like it was her place. I held Hudson’s arm tighter, but he didn’t squeeze back. Everything was falling apart.

Sonya slowly made her way to where the mood goddess was standing. “Yes, moon goddess I am.” Sonya stated. Selene then took a dagger off her waist and made a slit on her forearm and Sonya’s. Athena blinked a few times, and opened her eyes slowly. Her eyelashes lifted in our direction, and her warm brown eyes brushed over us, but she didn't see me. She didn't stare at me directly, but the look of unbelief which spread on her face, followed by her gasp, confirmed that she could see. She looked past me, and her eyes watered. She could see. Athena could finally see. She was finally going to regain some of the old confidence she used to have. What would it be like with her being able to see?

Even though we're not related but I feel a very deep connection with him and I don't know why, he once mentioned that I remind him of Sienna.
