I queried, “You won’t answer my question?” “What question?” Xalen shot back at me with the same stoic expression that I didn’t like one bit. “I asked what you were doing here,” I said. “I didn’t know you still worked here.” Even though what I wanted to say was, “I didn’t think you still lived here,” I settled for a less mean version. “I don’t work here,” Xalen uttered, holding my gaze. “I came here because I need a few books that haven’t been moved to our home.”

She immediately looked away as her cheeks heated up. Xavier was holding a book in his hand as he read quietly in the corner. His face was the voice of any emotion even though the book he was reading was probably comedy. His thick brows were slightly furrowed, his lips pursed into a thin line and his beautiful brown hair was falling down on his forehead. She couldn't help but suddenly feel like a fangirl. He truly is perfect. Not only was he wealthy, but he's super duper rich, too. "Staring is mean, you know?" he suddenly said.

I felt a flutter in my chest as my eyes returned to his. As I inhaled, his scent hit my nose, and I couldn't help but take a deep breath in. That very smell was my ticket back to that night. I didn't want to forget how good he smelled, like a blend of wood and spice.
