AUTHOR’S POV A small frown touched Nora’s face, her body convulsing with another wave of shivers. “T-Then bear it, I can’t be seen getting cozy with you when I have a boyfriend,” she said, wrapping another piece of clothing around her now sweating body.

Charlotte’s POV It was a dreary, rainy day; the perfect day to stay inside, reading in the library. Nora and I had made our home for the day at one of the tables in the library with cups of hot cocoa and a plate of cookies between us. She sat across from me with a history book open in front of her. She was supposed to be reading about the founding Alpha families, but instead, she kept sighing wistfully, trailing her little fingers across the page.

It was the sound of Rain. Real, cold, rhythmic rain hitting a tin roof. Nora opened her eyes. She wasn't wearing velvet. She was wearing a worn-out, oversized sweatshirt. She wasn't in a Hamptons estate. She was in a small, cramped apartment filled with the smell of cheap coffee and old books. She sat at a wooden desk. On the desk was a laptop, its screen glowing in the dim light. [300,452 WORDS. STATUS: COMPLETE.]

Nudging her in the stomach and winking, she added, “She has a lot of money. So don't take your eye off her.” Paty abruptly released Hilda, pushing her sideways. And like possessed, she headed towards me. “I'm Paty, nice to meet you.” She extended her hand and I did the same by returning the greeting. My eyes could not be more open from the shock, Is she for real? “I'm Nora, nice to meet you, Paty. But tell me, what is your role in the rescue group?” Paty's eyes lit up with sparks, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Hilda shake her head with an exasperated face “Oh! No, Nora, what have you done? You just summoned the demon.”

Aurelia suggested as I nodded and changed into a more comfy outfit and laid under my duvet, hoping to recharge before evening when Alpha Blake would come for me. As I drifted away into the sleep, the thought of the mysterious book was at the back of my mind and it lingered still. I suddenly woke up drenched in sweat with a racing heart. I had had a dream again which was so real and vivid, it felt like my life. I saw Nora again, whispering to the hooded figure and this time around they were in a room, with the moon casting eerie shadows at them through the window in the empty room. Nora stood with the book, scribbling into it which the figure also read and smiled then handed Nora another smal

No more Moonlit Pack to return to. Naira turned to glance one last time at the desert she had once called home. Then with a bitter smile and sad eyes filled with determination, she turned and walked into the unfamiliar world. "From now on, I'll live for myself. I'll love myself. Zain Adeel, let's never meet in this life again."

With a shaky little sigh that smacked of defeat, she tapped in her access code, surprising him with her sudden willingness. “Here… You can look at my emails,” Norah urged. “You’ll see I was counseling him that certain requests could be interpreted as… shady.” ***** She offered him the phone. Norah didn’t know much about climbing out of a hole, but she knew you had to hit rock bottom to be able to go up… so she went there. At least, this humiliation was her choice and only between the two of them, now that the room was empty.

Settling on making a quick omelet, I gathered eggs, cheese, and some leftover vegetables. As I whisked the eggs, my mind wandered back to the past couple of days. I wondered if Grace was asleep right now, or sitting up feeling scared and lonely. Tomorrow, I would prepare a meal for her, I decided. And maybe bring her a few of those books I had purchased. “Midnight snack, Kayla?” I jumped at the sound of the voice, nearly dropping the bowl. Turning, I saw Nora leaning casually against the doorway, her arms crossed and a smug smile playing on her lips. She was dressed impeccably, as always, in a silk robe that accentuated her slim figure.

Nora was determined to make Akshara become the rumour that echoed over the icy walls of the Ayruzglow kingdom. "I don’t know who else I have to fight with to get Dev. First, it was the witch from Frozen Crescent, and now it's random brides from allied kingdoms. I can’t tolerate Dev being with anyone." Nora decided to update her torment to include Akshara. "I intend to destroy the charm that engrossed my Dev towards her." Nora said, breaking the glass with her bare hands. "I made her starve. I toiled here. I did everything I could to expunge her charm. No matter what I did, her charm doesn't wear off."

Nora was looking at Claire. She stood and looked at it for a long time. Then she put it face down at the back of the wardrobe shelf and closed the door. Ethan came back at half past seven. She heard the front door and then his footsteps below, and then Margaret’s voice low and brief, and then quiet. Nora was in the upstairs sitting room with a book she had not been reading for an hour. She stayed where she was and turned a page she had not read and listened to the house settle around his presence.
