Lena stared at the message glowing on her phone screen, her pulse quickening with each passing second. The words were brief but chilling: “Your home is not safe. Trust no one. Someone close is part of it.” The text had no name, no identifier. It was a warning from the shadows, sent to shake the very foundation of her security.

I cleared my throat and sighed “Uhm I wanted to ask, have you been getting weird messages from an unknown number?” “Weird messages?” “Hmmm” “Like what?” “Uhhhhh, ehm…..” “Can I see the message?” Immediately he asked that, my heart skipped, I smiled nervously “Of course I've not gotten any, I was speaking with my friends the other day and everyone had been talking how this new group of scammers going around sending crazy messages to people I just want you to be careful about them” “Is that all?” “Yeah, sure” “You didn't get any message did you?”

I return to my pasta, which is colder than it should be, and shake my head. Scaredy-cats.
