The first scream cut through the air like a banshee's wail, a primal expression of distress that resonated with a haunting intensity. It clawed at the edges of my consciousness, sending a shiver down my spine. The second scream followed a desperate plea for a reprieve from the unseen torment within those walls. As the noise of distress escalated, I banged on the door as hard as I could, blaming myself for forgetting to bring the spare keys with me in times of need. The screams, now interwoven with the dissonant movement of crashing and cracking, painted a vivid tableau of chaos. Not seeing anything, but I could sure as hell hear and smell what was going on around me. There's a mumble, no comprehensive words, not a whimper but like a stifled mumble. I turn my head to the side so the light was no longer directly in my eyes. I screamed! I screamed so loud that I thought my own eardrums would burst. A hand came out of nowhere and clamped over my mouth to shut out the noise.

Everywhere blurs. I blink hard, but it only seems to make things worse, forcing my lids almost shut until my eyes are nothing but thin, miserable slits fighting for a pinprick of focus. Suddenly, a fine, searing wire snaps inside the confines of my skull. It isn’t loud, not in the way thunder or shouting is loud, but it is absolute. It is a sharp, tiny sound, like a high-pitched screech that happens when a microphone picks up the amplified sound coming from its own speaker, creating a continuous loop.

Everyone heard about it. He'd woken up screaming, thrashing so violently it took three wolves to hold him down. Screaming her name over and over like a prayer or a curse or both. Screaming until his voice gave out and all that was left was this horrible rasping sound that carried through the entire camp.

I wanted it for a long time , might as well take it like a good girl. "M..M-cken--ahh" I screamed, my poor body trembling and shaking with so much intensity. My mouth was dry with how much I was screaming. If we had neighbors they would have definitely heard me. Despite the quiet voice I had ,I could really scream. I could literally hear it ringing in my own ears.

I said to Kaitlyn who just gave me an amused look. “They do, and I'm sure this defense will open the Pandora box that everyone has been pretending is invisible,” Kaitlyn said to me. Her words were cryptic and I was more fascinated by what was playing out in front of me than to think too much about it. Then I heard it, it was small but it was a steady creaking sound. Like some poorly oiled hinge was turning. What was going on? Then suddenly, the sound sped up and then screams filled the air. They were so loud the thick glass in front of me began to crack. I covered my ears as I felt liquid in them.

I feel like I'm losing control. My whole body is shaking. Everyone's yelling and saying things that don't make any sense. "You marked her!" Jack screams at Brax, moving closer to him, never once taking the gun off him. "Oh god, my" mother cries. "SHUT UP!!" I scream at the top of my lungs, my hands covering my ears, but it's doing nothing. Everything is still so loud the house starts shaking, breaking around us, and car alarms going off outside. I keep repeating shut up over and over again, just wanting it all to stop.

Screams. And then— Gunfire.

My laptop is launched across the room, the loud crash from it slamming through equipment and into the wall swallowed by the roar ripping from my throat. I convulse violently from the force of the piercing wail falling past my lips, so long and sorrowful that it tapers off into a silent scream. Heaving in a breath again, another thunderous cry explodes out of me as I grab the closest table and launch that next. My hearing goes after that as if I’m underwater and all sound is diluted. The tide batters into me, drawing me into its clutches and sending me spiraling down into the black pit of despair at the bottom.

The banging sound from the door became louder, drowning out the tune that was once blaring in my ears. “Leave me alone!” I screamed out my lungs, pressing my hands against my ears without removing the AirPods. All these to get the banging sounds away from me. But it grew louder after I screamed and I sobbed harder, offering prayers to the moon goddess. I wasn't feeling feverish this time but I was hearing things. Who knew? I could start seeing things soon. All of a sudden, a familiar masculine voice broke through the loudness of the elements of the storm, “Open the damn door!”
