We drop down and cover our ears when a sizzling sound fills the air and windows shatter into tiny pieces. “Nooooo!”

Damn it! Fuck, fuck, fuck! Move, bones! Get up! Get back on the bike! I scream at myself, but it’s useless. Every command stays locked in my head, and the only sound I can hear is a soft, pitiful whimper—my own voice, barely a whisper. Suddenly, harsh lights flood my face. They’re blinding, like torches being shoved right into my eyes. Voices filter through the haze—some familiar, others not. They’re yelling my name, but I can’t tell who’s who. Everything sounds distant like I’m underwater.

“Say something!” “Fuck… fuck… fuck…” she screamed relentlessly. The sound of her cries was louder than the splashing sound the rain gave when it hit the surface of the earth and the roof of the cabin. “Oh, God… oh God… I'm going to cum again!” she screamed, trembling violently. “If you do that before I ask you, I'll have to start over again!” I snarled, ramming into her with the force of a rhino.

I tried to speak but words nor a puff of air came out from my mouth. “I DARE YOU TO FUCKING SAY THAT AGAIN!” He screamed at my face. My eyes stung badly along with tears filling them. Then… a high-pitched screech , like feedback magnified a thousandfold, erupts from the shard. Not directed at me. Outwards. Into the psychic maelstrom.

I closed up my laptop and leaned back in my chair as I rubbed my eyes. Just then, I heard a loud screech like nails on a chalkboard. I crouched down, falling to the floor, and I used my hands to cover my ears and shut my eyes tightly. I cursed under my breath. The sound was definitely far away, but how is it affecting me and where is it?

I muttered through clenched teeth, a vow to myself as much as a retort to them. “You're so frustrating,” the voice hissed in frustration, and a piercing, screeching noise filled the air. I stumbled to my knees, pressing my hands over my ears, desperate to block out the torturous sound. It was like a thousand knives drilling into my skull, a merciless attempt to shatter my sanity. Then, as abruptly as it began, the noise ceased, leaving behind a ringing silence. My head throbbed, and my ears rang, a dull ache reverberating through my skull. It was replaced by distant sounds of commotion, shouts, and gunshots.

I scream so loud, I’m almost sure the whole house heard it. “Boss…are you okay? “ Luca quietly steps closer to me but that ticking is still going off in my ears. I take my open bottle of whisky and throw it at him, and it would have hit him if he didn’t dodge it so quickly. I can barely hear the glass bottle shatter against the wall. “GET THE FUCK OUT! I scream, moving my hands toward my ears once again while closing my eyes tightly, trying to withstand all this loud static in my head. I wait for a good minute until I finally open my eyes, and I notice Luca has escaped the room without me noticing.
