Second Chances
I say, before taking the jar of oil and heading back to the packhouse.
I check in with the pack members, finding out that Ayda and Cathal ordered dinner upstairs in our suite. When I get upstairs, I hear Ayda and Cathal in his room. I stop, leaning against the wall outside his door, not wanting to interrupt, listening as Ayda reads to Cathal and he asks her questions about the book.
I risk poking my head into the room and see the two of them sitting on his bed, leaning against the headboard. She’s got a book in one hand and her other arm wrapped around our son. He’s leaning his head against her chest with his eyes closed, listening to her read.
