REJECTED MATE
A pained moan echoed from deep inside, making my skin tighten.
“Are you sure this isn’t Hell?” I muttered.
The faerie looked me full in the face. His eyes were the same quicksilver as the Fae King’s, but without any of his haughtiness. The creature staring at me seemed lifeless, with pin-prick pupils that seared into my soul.
“This is a pocket dimension of Elphame,” he said, his words crisp. “The Seelie Casino has no association with demonkind.”
“That’s good to know,” Griff said with a growl. “Now, are we going to stand in this hallway all evening, or will you let us in to see the administrator?”
