Hello, everyone! This is XSkylar19. It has been a very interesting ride for me while writing Bane of the Dragons because (fun fact) this was my very first dragon genre. I know some of you probably disliked how everything turned out or how fastpaced everything happened but know that this was intentional as I couldn't drag the story on. Anyway, while this book becomes the first book for dragon genre, it certainly wasn't my first book in the fantasy genre.

"So how was your exploration? Do you like our new home?" Kyoko stamped a foot and swayed her tail, giving a little whimper. She looked to me and flicked her tongue. "Yeah, I know there isn't much grass or shade here. But I'm working on that. I've planted more trees and grass seeds. There'll be more shade soon. And you're a nightshade dragon, why does shade matter to you?" She just swayed her tail and seemed to smirk. It was possible my dragon was just giving me a hard time. Nightshade dragons were the most beautiful and hard to tame of the dragon breeds. Among other breeds were Day and Night Glory dragons, Nexus, Water dragons, Nebula, Night Glory, Tri-Horned Wyverns, Desipise, Cavern Lurker

Soldiers screamed as they stumbled backward. Another claw appeared. Then another. Slowly, an enormous creature climbed from the darkness below. Its body was covered in black scales. Its eyes burned like molten gold. Massive wings unfolded behind it, filling nearly half the sanctuary. The beast let out a deafening roar that shook the ancient ruins. Even General Varis looked terrified. "I... I didn't summon that." Kael stepped in front of Liana once more. His expression had never been more serious. "The Shadow Dragon..."

I readied myself to fight, eyes traveling back over to the dragonstone. I needed to get to that dragonstone right away. If I were able to reach it, I might be able to harness enough of the power inside it to reach the other dragons. By convincing them, I was hopeful I’d be able to make them see reason. Convince them to stand down. Dragon magic was ancient and something I couldn’t fully understand, but what I believed it was sending at us were these shadow dragons. Literal dragons made of shadows. The group of us was ready to fight, lashing out at the shadows as the dragon tried to gain as much power as it could.
