The urge to spin was eating me, but I had to keep my calm. Marc excused himself through the kitchen door, probably to meet Martha. Before I could say anything, one of the waitresses came and smiled happily towards us, “Ordering?” I looked down at the menu and to be honest, I wasn't famished so I looked at the drinks sections and had to admit the names were so cute I just had to ask, “Oh what's the Fabulous Fiona”?" “Oh that contains peach and passion fruit,” she smiled, “And what about you, Mr. Novak? You should try the Hot-Shot' would more than likely suit you.”

I look up at him. “What was that?” I ask, and he smiles at me, the fire around his irises melting away. “Shadow fire.” He answers softly, then closes his eyes once again. “I’ve never seen it before,” my tone matches his. “Have you always been able to do that?” “No, it’s a recent development, and by recent, I mean three years. It reeked of impending madness; the opening yawning before him like an omen. William stared in as the group walked by it on their way to the next room over. Inside this one was a solid silver slab with chains hanging from the edges where the arms and legs of the victim; him, in this case; would lie. Under the slab was a metal funnel to drain the bloodshed. His bloodshed. Above the slab was a huge grate of metal spikes. The spikes were approximately a foot in length, which guaranteed they pierced all the way through the body from the front to the back.

I quickly turn around towards Teyana, using my claws to cut through the zip tie. “SINCERE!” She shouts, her vision leading behind me. As soon as I turn around I feel a cold metal pushing into me, ripping through my insides. He twists and slides it immediately, to inflict more pain. My mouth fills with blood before it splurts out and onto the dark shield of his mask. My thoughts darken.

Her smile, laced with blood, looked haunting. A Haunt swept in, scattering the cash and gold bars from the car. Sparks flew, and the flames roared to life with a loud whoosh. I pulled a gold bar from my pocket. "Hear me, infant spirits, it's time for our final showdown!" The winds howled as I watched my mom wail in despair. Her tears were for her wealth, not a shred of worry for me. I spun around and plunged into the swirling darkness without a second thought.

He wondered if he was letting down on the job. Losing his grip. Then he started hearing Sonny Boy wailing in the Dungeon on the level below. Shroud was pissed about something. What was it? TransMobile? What the fuck? Ten minutes till quitting time. The control box on the arm of the electric swivel chair enabled Dink to speed up or slow down. He checked the rate at which he was spinning—thirty-five revolutions per minute. That was fast. He was spinning double-time. But Dink couldn’t slow down.

Dash only glanced at him. "Are you for real? Is it really poisonous?" Wilson continued asking. "I said what if! That means it is a case of 'maybe'. Why don't you try it out and let's see in the morning." And with that response, Dash promptly entered the tent, refusing to listen to Wilson any longer. It was late and he was too tired for an unnecessary chat. *Shoom* As soon as Dash entered and closed the tent's zipper, a translucent blue hive-patterned shield flashed on the tent's body before disappearing.

"I know. I still need an eternity to get glammed up and slip into my dress. You go on with James. Don't keep Mom and the Elders waiting—you know how pumped she is to see him." Right on cue, the head of the guards outside announced that the old Luna was already on her way, clearing any doubts Malcolm had left. "Be quick," he said, scooping up James and heading for the door. Elaine, looking pleased as punch, straightened her silver gown and tossed a snooty scoff my way. "Malcolm, James, and I are the real deal—a family of three. Someone like you, who can't even have pups, has no business standing next to Malcolm."

Immediately, the security guard standing around noticed that he was the one driving in; they all stood up immediately and saluted him as he drove straight to his parking lot. "Wow, the securities here are so respectful," I said, pulling off the mask I was wearing. "Yeah, you can say that again," Marrock said. He pulled off his seat and got down from the car before coming over to my side to hold me down.
