Eolan inhaled, the cold coiling in his chest. His shadow stretched unnaturally long across the snow, tendrils unfurling like smoke.
“Now,” he whispered.
The riders surged forward. Hooves thundered, steel flashed, and Eolan’s shadow stormed ahead—snaking around enemy legs, yanking men from their saddles, snuffing out torchlight in bursts of inky darkness.
The mercenaries broke formation in panic. Eolan rode straight through their ranks, his blade finding gaps in armor, his shadow twisting into jagged spears that struck with lethal precision.
