Deep beneath the mountain…
The shadow slid through stone cracks like smoke.
It entered the cavern without a sound, gathering itself on the floor until it rose, shaping into something vaguely humanoid, tall, and wrong, shifting like tar that refused to settle.
Two red coals flared in its center.
A voice seeped out, distorted and layered.
“She hid,” the shadow hissed. “The Sorcerer hid from me.”
The cavern rumbled, walls trembling as Shade emerged from the darkness, taller, denser, power radiating from him like heat from an inferno.
