**SHADOWS DEN** The intense training outside continued as the Shadows pushed their recruits through grueling exercises, demanding speed and strength. The students were struggling, drenched in sweat, but no mercy was shown. The Shadows were ruthless, their methods brutal. Tomorrow I ride to Shadowpeak. Tomorrow I make my move. I just hope it’s not another mistake that costs us everything. Because at this point, I’m not sure I’d even notice the difference. --- The next morning the ride to Shadowpeak is quiet and tense. Rocky cliffs and thick forests stretch out around us. This place sits right between us and Ironwood. If Lydia flips, we lose the entire east. If she stays, we keep a shield.

But the more I pulled, the more complicated everything became. At midnight, my phone buzzed again. *“The mirror shows what’s hidden. Look closer.”* I glanced at my reflection in the windowpane. The woman staring back at me was pale and exhausted, but her eyes burned with a quiet determination. Slowly, I moved closer, finger trailing the cold glass. And then I saw it — a flicker, subtle but unmistakable. A shadow moving just behind my reflection, a shape that didn’t belong. My heart skipped. ---

Golden arrows slowly emerged, timidly trying to chase away the shadows of the night. The great fire disc made its appearance. First, it emerged as a red line growing wider and wider until it rose victorious into the angelic blue sky, ready to stretch its arms over the whole earth. It tamed its color slightly, becoming comforting as it shyly soaked up the night frost with which you would think it was soothing its own color.

Its eyes were as red as blood and its presence gives a chilling and horrifying feel. “The two witch kids...have you heard about the prophecy?” The twins looked at each other being puzzled. “Oh, I see, I would be glad that I will be the one to tell your fate...” The evil of shadows made them confused. “...if one of you succeeds to become the ruler of the separate worlds, it will be the end of everything.” As Falla moved her pace to her brother trying to hide at her twin's back, Talon eventually vanished and was nowhere to be found. The evil of shadows moved closer in her direction. She feels heaviness and high tension as the evil comes closer and closer to her.

IVY POV) My shoes slapped against the wet pavement, every step echoing in the empty space. Behind me, I could hear Caleb's men. Their heavy footsteps and the crackle of radios. They were getting closer. I threw my legs as fast as I could in the darkness. My breath was so audible it blocked my ears. I’d already made the mistake of hesitating once tonight, back at the police station when Caleb had burst in. That one moment of fear had nearly cost me everything.

Faint and in the distance. Drip, drip, and drip. The sound of water. I followed it, feeling colder and numb with every step. I hold onto the sound. It was getting louder. Snow was still falling but breaks in the clouds above showed a sign of hope. There in the distance was now a structure of something that I couldn't make out. The sky was becoming orange over it. I arrived in front of a frozen waterfall. Icicles adorned the cliff face where the water was falling. Wind still whistling through the air bringing a new ice blanket with it. The first beams of sunlight lift over the cliff top.

I needed to get out of here. I stumbled out of bed, my hands flailing wildly as I tried to get my bearings. But there was nothing to see. The darkness sent shivers through me, but the fear of the unknown overrode my brain more and I stumbled forward. But I didn't get far before I collided with a wall, and fell to the ground, my hands scraping against the cold floor. I suddenly couldn't breathe, I couldn't think, and all I could do was feel the crushing weight of my reality. There was no point trying to run, I couldn't even make it outside my room.
