Claws raked the belly of another, spilling guts in a steaming pile. I swung my blade at a human rebel who lunged with a spear, the tip grazing my arm before I parried and slashed across his chest. He crumpled, gurgling, and I pressed forward, the bond guiding me to weak points in their line. Rhaedon's wolves tore into the eastern side, fangs flashing in coordinated strikes. One russet shifter pinned a black furred enemy, claws digging into shoulders while jaws crushed the windpipe. Another leaped over a fallen body, tackling a spearman mid thrust, ripping into the man's leg with relentless bites.

I stepped forward, out of his grasp. My throat burned where his claws had been, but I didn’t falter. The ground split beneath my feet. Light burst from my chest, not blinding, commanding. The wind answered first. It tore through the battlefield, knocking rogues off their feet, ripping weapons from hands, slamming bodies into the dirt. Moonclaw warriors staggered but stayed standing, protected by a force they didn’t understand. Lightning followed. Not wild strikes….precise. Bolts slammed into clusters of rogues, into siege weapons, into the walls they were trying to breach. Fire exploded. Stone shattered.

In a rather swift and deadly turn, David pierced one of the warriors with his claws, the sound of tearing flesh echoing through the air. "Take that!!" David muttered, cleaning off his claws in the warrior's clothes. The warrior only let out a pained yelp,his body crumpling to the ground. "Leo!!" David roared, urging him to charge forward and attack the adversary. Leo did as commanded, and with a swift kick and a swipe of his claws, he took down the other warrior. The warrior's body hit the ground with a loud thud, his eyes getting frozen in a permanent stare.

CLANG! The collision exploded like thunder. A shockwave ripped through the room. Windows shattered. Stone cracked. Everyone stumbled backward. Then the battle began. Fast. Far too fast. The commander moved like lightning. Blue streaks followed every attack. The shadow warrior answered with darkness. Black fire. Black blades. Black destruction. Neither gained ground. Neither retreated. Then the commander landed a direct strike. Her spear pierced the creature's chest. Blue light erupted. The shadow warrior staggered. Everyone cheered.

Claws met shadow, and dark ichor was spilled. “Protect the Luna and the Alpha!” Marcus roared. Our warriors charged into the fray. I stayed rooted in place, feeding power into the shield and at the same time trying to send sharp bursts of golden energy at any creature that got too close. One of the beings slipped past our front line and came at me. Its pale hand reached for me. I drove my golden claws straight through its chest. It shrieked, a sound that was far from human, and dissolved into black smoke.

But it was known that they were nomadic and needed property of their own. So, instead of earning the money and building a base legitimately, it was easier to overtake an established one.
