“Look at me. Breathe.” “I can’t....” “Yes, you can.” My grip softened, my thumb stroking her cheek. “You’re fine. We’re fine.” Her tears shone in the dim light, her lips trembling. For a second, I thought she’d fold into me, collapse against my chest. But then she ripped free, clutching her bag like it was the only thing tethering her to the earth. “Stay away from me.” Her heels clattered against the concrete as she fled, her sobs echoing long after she was gone.

I looked down at her small fingers wrapped around mine, then to her pleading gaze. “Please,” she whispered. “Stay… just for a little while.” I gently untangled her hand, promising, “I’ll be back in a few seconds.” But as I turned, she jolted up from the couch, grasping my shirt with trembling hands, her voice breaking. “Please, don’t leave,” she begged, tears beginning to streak down her cheeks. Then, unable to hold back, she crumbled, dropping to her knees as she held onto my legs, in a way that stopped me cold.

From behind the only thing I can feel was her shoulders shrunking, her head down and her body was fumbling little. In the next minute, she was about to collapse and down on the ground, running towards her, I grabbed her first before she can fall. She was looking hurt and dissapointed, her eyes dropped a single tear, while she pressed them tightly. "She threw you away not.me!" He again yelled, as she raised her hands to slap him, but couldn't do it. She took her hands back down, and started to get in her posture, leaving my arms.

With a quite serious face, she stared straight into my eyes. "Please, excuse us, " she said. I turned to move aside with my friends but she grabbed me by the sleeve lightly. "No. Not you. " Beads of cold sweat started forming on my forehead. What the hell did such a beauty want with me? I asked myself. Not uttering a single word, she handed me a folded piece of paper torn from what looked like a girly diary. I unfolded the paper with sheer inquisitiveness, it read;

"I don't know but I feel the need to move away from here and start all over again. I feel like a fresh start would help me a great deal. Nothing is working for me anymore.
