He saw Stephen as soon as he entered. “Stephen!” The person was shocked and overjoyed to see him. He hurriedly walked over to Stephen and held his hand out for a shake. Stephen shook his hand and asked, “Who are you?” “It’s Leo Hayes,” the man said. “You guys used to call me Nerd.” Stephen was struck by a realization. Leo was the best student in their grade. He came from a modest family, and his parents were not well-connected. They did not even graduate from high school. Leo had gotten into school purely from his results. He studied relentlessly at school, reading books even during lunch break.

My name is Nerd. Not my real name but the one given to me by my course mates. Because I behaved like an actual nerd. If there was a personality more extreme than introvert, then that's what I was. I was always found isolating myself from everyone else. I never attended any social gathering except it was about quiz or debate or educational talk shows hosted there in college. I had no friends because no one wants to make a friend with someone whom they can barely communicate with.

"Oh my gosh! What is going on in here?!" I wince. Even the voice is wrong–high-pitched and painfully exaggerated. The acting is so atrocious it belongs in a middle school drama class reject pile. On screen, the music suddenly cuts off. The group of shirtless guys stop dancing with the half-naked girls and swagger over to the fake version of me. "Sup, nerd.” The lead guy wears a sleazy grin as he crowds her space. "Don’t pretend you didn't come looking for this. We all know what a little good-girl bookworm like you actually wants behind closed doors."

I said seriously and they both looked at me. My female classmate stood up and gave me a bad look. "And who are you to tell us to stand up huh? You're just a stupid pretentious nerd! Dumb!" "Dumb?
