' Cody whispered, even through the mindlink. I smiled. 'Whatever it was, it’s helping us out.' We steadily crept closer, slowly closing in on their compound. There was barely a sliver of a moon left, and the lights glaring from the building left plenty of shadows for us to stay hidden in. The closer we got, the more we could overhear. “You’re seriously listening to that guy?” a younger man shouted in the face of one a generation or so his senior. “He’s a fucking werewolf! We can’t trust a werewolf!”

“Winter, if she was pushed off of a cliff, he didn’t kill her. Werewolves can’t die by drowning. It might cause them some discomfort. But they’ll still come out of it alive. Didn’t you hear what Roman told me?” Winter shook her head. “Sorry, I was a little busy distracting myself with clothes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a closet like that before.” “Me, either,” said Nora, smiling, “but Roman told me that a werewolf could only be killed by a few things. One of their own kind, fire, and silver blessed by a priest.” Winter glared. “It doesn’t matter. It was cruel. He shouldn’t have done something like that.” “It wasn’t Ares.”

I’m not sure I’m ready for that, but I don’t want to be in the dark either, so I’m preparing myself mentally for whatever truths may come out Arriving at Jesse, I see Kiara walking out the door and waving me down. I look at Kiara and respond, “Yes, I will stay. You know I love to eat. “Walking into the home feels nice and homey. I love the life they have built together. They seem happy. Half shift is a learned skill that few master. For an underage she-wolf to do that and inflict damage on rogues, it was impressive. I smiled.
