I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, letting Simone’s calm presence wash over me. “Let the voices in,” she said. “Don’t fight them. Let them flow past you like a river.” I hesitated, then let go of the resistance that had been holding me back for so long. The voices surged again, but this time, I didn’t flinch. I let them wash over me, observing without attaching myself to them. Slowly, they began to untangle, each one becoming distinct instead of a chaotic blur. And then, there it was, the silence within.

Selene is realizing that silence has a lot to say. It isn't just an empty space. It grows, filling up all the little gaps, like the space between one breath and the next, the times when her gut used to scream warnings. Human. The Silence recoiled. The mist pulled back an inch.

“ Meara!” The whispers started again, soft but notable. I tensed, my eyes snapping open. I scanned the field, but there was no one in sight. The sound seemed to come from the tree itself, from the rustling of its leaves. I pressed my palms against the rough bark and closed my eyes, focusing on the whispers. " Come... find... me..." The words were faint but distinct. My heart raced. Was I losing my mind, or was there something more to these whispers? I stood up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and took a few steps back. The whispers grew louder, more insistent.

She looked over to Alex, her red eyes had darkened to an almost black and her canines were protruding from her mouth, piercing her lips, she gave Thea a silent nod in agreement. It was low and the Sisters didn't even stop to catch their breaths. Soon Maddie was entranced. All background noise, like the chirping of birds at the oak tree by the window and the creak of the desk faded. Only the humming of the Sisters persisted.
