Relief beamed on his face. The masked men turned toward me. Silver arrows whistled through the air. I leaned low over my Harley and let my shadow power rise. Dark threads spilled from my hands. One scout’s bike flipped as my power slammed into it. The rider tumbled across the ice. I did not stop. Another shadow blade cut the second rider’s arm and forced him to drop his bow. Jax fought beside me now. His blade flashed. He fought better this time, but one of the enemies struck him. Blood sprayed across the ice.

“Why fight? Your blood sings with mine. Harbinger flame born to awaken the dark. You have seen what I am. You know I am not whole. Together, you and I “No.” I snarled it, though my body trembled. “ together, we could be endless.” The dagger’s hilt dug into my palm. I raised it high and slashed. The silver edge caught one of the coils of shadow binding me. It hissed, and the darkness recoiled, but not enough. My arm felt leaden. The shadows caught my wrist and wrenched it aside. The dagger clattered into the ash. The Shadow’s laughter rumbled low, vibrating the air. “Even with silver, you cannot wound me. You know why? Because you do not want to.”

Just empty black. Cold.... Dead. Shadows coil around him. They move across his body, across the ground and across the air. Then, ssilver light explodes into the darkness. It erupts from somewhere behind me or maybe from me. The silver collides violently with Lucien’s shadows. The two forces slam together like warring storms. Light. Shadow. Silver. Black. They tear at each other savagely. The ground cracks beneath the clash. Lucien roars. But it doesn’t sound human.

She rolled her eyes. “The Moon Goddess?! Yeah sure.” Shadow scoffed. “If you ARE the Moon Goddess, prove it.” Shadow demanded. Selene glared at Shadow and huffed. “Shadow and Jennifer Collins. How are your pups?” she asked. “How are Spyder and Spencer? Isn’t their mate expecting along with her cousin?” Shadow glared and Jen released a low growl. “How do you know our names? And how do you know about all our pups?” Jen snarled. Shadow had his arm around his mate’s waist. It wasn’t to protect her from Selene but more to keep her from pouncing on Selene.

He growled and moved to my left flank, swiping at me, luckily I was prepared and he missed me, he was definitely faster than the others. Doing another attack and swiping at his lower abdomen, taking a chunk of his flesh with me, blood pooled at my fingertips as well as dripping from his stomach. He took a step back from me, shocked that I could probably parry with him, “I'm not just a little girl, I am a silver blood, a species that was meant to bring your kind to justice and that is what I am going to accomplish.” After declaring, Hughes gnashed his teeth and attacked once again, this time slower than before.

"I can handle this." For a moment, he stopped, his protective instincts colliding with his belief in me. Then, with a stern nod, he stepped back and allowed the barrier to crumble. The shadow's tendril charged at me, but this time I was ready. I thrust my hand forward, eliciting a brilliant flash of silver light from my palm. It collided with the blackness, sending shockwaves across the air. The beast let out a guttural growl as its shape flickered like a dying flame. "You think you've won?" they said, their voice twisted and filled with rage.

Rule number one to fighting they say is to never make the first move, but it was clear that under normal circumstances none of us would, but these were not normal circumstances. I felt Shadow push to the surface and my senses were automatically heightened. He kept his entire body guarded, a good approach when awaiting an attack, but as an expertly trained professional I knew just the right spot to attack. I propelled myself forward and looked as if I was trying to punch him in the side with my right hand and saw him smirk slightly when he saw my supposed tactic, but in the last second I raised my left hand and karate chopped him between his shoulder and neck.

The last skill was what messed up Mane’s Trace, and it was so strong that Hildegarde had been affected just by being close to Mane. Silver was smart enough to use Distort on Mane when Mane was healing him, and since it wasn’t a life threatening skill, Mane’s senses didn’t pick it up. It was highly useful and Mane was impressed by it. Now that he knew there was no danger, he could appreciate Silver’s genius.

But when I open them again and look towards where he is, I still see black leather wings and crimson eyes. His fighting is even more impressive than what I’ve seen in Sahara’s gladiator ring. When the shadow aims some kind of power, he flies back, flips, and lunges at what I assume is its head. He flaps his wings, pushing the shadow back and aims his sword over it, cutting through it. He twirls again and piercing the center of the shadow over and over again until the shadow fractures and shatters into a million pieces. As soon as that happens, the fog fades, and the dark monster disappears, leaving the shadows of the true darkness behind.
