My vision flared white-hot, the skin along my fingers splitting as my claws extended. I pushed off the floor with a terrifying burst of speed, my teeth bared, intent on tearing the leader’s throat out. Before I could land a blow, two of the mercenaries stepped into my path, before raising heavy, metallic cylinders. Suddenly... a high-frequency sonic blast ripped through the air, vibrating at a pitch designed specifically to disrupt an Alpha’s nervous system. I staggered with my head exploding in blinding pain as the runic silver chains wrapped around my torso like living serpents, burning deep into my flesh.

Silver. From the adjoining cell, a sharp, scraping sound echoed. The rogue with the glowing red eyes was scratching a piece of smuggled silver wire against the iron bars, deliberately drawing a thin line of black blood across his own palm. The toxic, burning scent of the pure metal sliced through the air, hitting my sensitive Lycan nose like a physical blow. The sudden shock of the silver's proximity sent a cold spike of survival through my veins, instantly clearing the fog of the mate bond. Killian felt it too. His head snapped toward the iron grate, his nostrils flaring as his Alpha protective instincts warred with his confusion.

His massive hand snaps out, catching her wrist in mid-air with a sound like a cracking branch. The shadow-aura around him flares, a localized, suffocating vacuum that instantly neutralizes the sonic blade, turning the metal to brittle, grey dust. "She’s poisoned," Clyde growls, his golden eyes narrowing as he detects the familiar, metallic tang of the Silver-Sieve in the woman’s blood.

Richard tried to lunge, but his leg gave out. Silas swung. I dived under the blow. I was small. Fast. I jammed the first syringe into the neck graft Silas had exposed when he fell. It wasn't acid. It was a high-molar silver-solvent. The silver plating on his neck didn't just melt. It shriveled. It turned into a grey, caustic sludge that began to seep into the wiring. Silas screamed. A real scream this time. He clutched his neck, the mechanical arm sparking wildly.
