A pain in my heart that felt like being stabbed a thousand times. A pain in my body that would heal but will leave a deadly nightmare of the past.

Selina's hand trembled, accidentally jabbing a wound near Nestor's ear, causing the barely clotted spot to seep blood again. Nestor remained motionless, either not feeling it or numb to the pain. Selina deliberately pressed harder, but he still didn't move, not even flinching reflexively. "Don't... you feel pain?" Selina finally couldn't help asking. Nestor's lips curved: "Can't feel much." Selina paused, her fingers tightening though she tried to sound casual: "How can you not feel anything?" Nestor replied offhandedly: "Because I've experienced pain a hundred, a thousand times worse!"

His stomach churned, and he fought to suppress the nausea, his face paling. Seeing Martin's pain, Brandy cried out, "Martin, this has nothing to do with you! Stay out of it!" "I'm fine..." Martin's voice was hoarse with pain. "Just go!" Brandy pleaded, then turned her gaze to Jose's hand, still slick with wine. A shudder ran through her. She closed her eyes and pressed her lips to the back of his hand, tracing the prominent veins. "Brandy..." Martin watched in stunned silence as she knelt before Jose, debasing herself to clean his hand.

Then he starts a chant in an unknown tongue, and his eyes flash that disgusting yellow colour. Then pain overtakes my body; the feeling of my first shift amplified and on repeat. I scream out and move, but every movement sends waves of throbbing pain through my entire body. I’ve never felt pain like this before, not even when Fenriz broke me in at the fighting pits. Every bone felt like it was being broken and repaired over and over again with no end to the pain in sight. Stefan takes his hands from my belly and walks out of the room, but the pain remains; no matter how much I scream and cry out, it doesn’t lessen at all.

A bone-deep pain instantly tore through my body. I let out a muffled gasp and collapsed onto the cold floor. Cold sweat drenched my back in seconds. I felt as though my soul was being torn apart. Yet, compared to the heartbreak from just moments ago, this pain felt much milder. With my gaze locked on the bone ring, I whispered to myself, "Just five more days, Tori Dawson. Five more days, and you'll be free from this ridiculous farce."
