LYRA Abigale sits beside me and fidgets nervously in her seat. “Your brother is okay with it,” she says frantically. Laying my hand on top of hers I guess her a little squeeze. “Whatever it is, I am sure we will be fine with it too.” Taking in a deep breath and holding it for a moment, Abigale breathes out slowly. “Annie and I are not actual sisters,” she begins. “she is my stepsister.”

I went on with my tale. “It's unbelievable, isn't it? Having a conversation with your wife and suddenly bolting out to go play hero for another woman.” “Say, wasn't Erin the name of his sister's friend?” I blinked, stunned. “Abel has a sister?” She nodded. “Abigail. She was your age when she passed away. Poisoned in the hospital. She has a son, Abel's nephew whom Erin is taking care of.” “Oh.” Shit, I had no idea about this at all. “But how is that possible? How can he be having an affair with his nephew's caretaker?”

At least that kept her sister nearby. Ruling scared Rose. She had never been brought up to rule. Abigail was the heir of both of her parents, and Rose had been fine with that. Now, not only had she surpassed her older sister in status, but she was her ruler, as well. Technically, Abby had to bow to her, but she'd never make her do it. She loved her sister and had never sought to overtake her.

Abigail POV Hi, I'm Abigail. Full name is Abigail Hampton. I'm a friend and also a cousin of Flavia and the niece of the man she loves, Gladwin Hampton. I'm not the busiest person in the world, and I'm not the most laid-back either. But one thing's for sure, I'm someone who likes to bother myself with other people's lives, especially when it comes to their love affairs.

Abigail nodded. Among all the eyes, a certain pair of silver eyes looked amused at her. He was watching her from the start. He thought the woman would be someone like Matilda. But she was different. He could see her hopelessly in love with her brother. But she wasn’t blinded by love, in fact, she was a lot rational. And she was stronger than any woman in the world.

“You can call me Abigail.” I welcomed her inside, glancing at the two hefty bags she carried. Marcy brought them inside with no effort at all. “Where do I keep these?” she asked. “Just by the door,” I replied. “For now. You’ll be taking care of my sister-in-law, Susanna. Why don’t you meet her first? After that, I’ll show you around the house.” I didn’t think it was possible, but Marcy’s grin became even bigger. “That’s very sweet of you, Mrs. Rem – I mean, Abigail. I really appreciate it.”

I can bet you that my mother and the cooks have been busy for the past week just to cook all the food for today. I nearly made it outside when I was tackled down by 3 bodies.
