“That’s why I say it every day to be with Mommy.” Alex stared at him, unimpressed. “You’re lying again.” He folded his arms. “It doesn’t work.” Andrea chimed in quickly. “I’ve tried it.” Alex raised a brow. “How many times?” He counted on his fingers. “100? 200? 300?” She nodded, completely serious. “Yes.” Alex shook his head like he was delivering real instruction. “That’s not enough.” He leaned in slightly. “You have to say it at least 1000 times for it to work properly.”

“You look awake.” “I am.” “Long day?” “Normal day.” I set my glass down, pulled off my flats, leaving them by the door. The floor was cool under my feet. “Just a lot of moving.” “The launch stuff?” “Some of it. Mostly studio things.” I picked up my glass again. “Locked in now.
