My smile widened as I mindlessly took off my jacket setting it down on the leather seat. I clung to Dalton chatting with him as Enzo thought it was the time for the like of the day as he called it. It was one of those stupid habits that we had going on as kids and it kinda stuck with us and Enzo was the one with the shittiest and corniest jokes. I braced myself to hear one of his dad jokes, Dalton was holding in his laugh at the eager look on his brother's face already. "What do you call a joke without a punchline?"

When he did, he felt Roy gradually relaxing against him as well, his back curving naturally to his chest. “Tell me the joke,” he murmured into his ears. His voice was hesitant when he said, “Are you sure?” “Yes.” He cleared his throat. “So, there were three guys stranded on an island. Jack, Jim, and John.” A smirk pulled the corners of his lips, without him opening his eyes. The women he’d been forced to be with would never make a joke like this. It would be something else, something witty, mocking even, and most importantly, sophisticated. Or naughty—anything to impress him.

“Joke’s on you, I am.” We collapsed into synchronized giggles, the kind that ripple out and make the whole office suddenly aware they aren’t in on the joke. Let them wonder. Vera and I had spent two years constructing our own language of snark and survivor’s humor, and if the rest of the world wanted to catch up, they could start by getting laid more often. “So, are you seeing him again?” I asked, my voice dropping as our boss passed by, phone glued to his ear, eyebrows furrowed in cartoonish displeasure.

Even his mother is not saying anything. I’m so shocked and confused that it makes me burst into laughter. My entire body shakes as I fill the living room with echoes of my loud hysterical laughter that does not stop bubbling from my chest until several seconds later. I look back at Klein who now looks confused. Good. “That has got to be a very expensive joke.” I say in a quiet, but dangerous tone. “Klein. It’s a joke, right?” I ask as the smile on my face fades and is replaced with a serious demeanor. Klein finally lets go of Jasmine and steps forward.

Anderson's Smart Watch, which was now used in time manipulation was waiting anxiously to be fastened around the wrist. Anderson turned around, casually, then asked with a sarcastic smile, “Quick quiz, in what year did Mrs. Simpson, AKA my mum, die?” “I never believed Anderson could make up a joke with that, he could beat one who casually joked about his mum to stupor and yet this?” Harrison said with wide eyes to Joce. “There's a reason for everything, I guess,” she replied. She pouted in realisation. “See. Tiny,” he teased and broke into laughter. She pulled away, pursing her lips. She wasn’t mad though. She found it kinda cute. He was so big and she was tiny. They both would make a cute couple. She stared at him and wondered if this thought had ever crossed his mind. A grin grew on her face as she found herself losing in the waves of his deep sonorous laughter. How someone can have such a burst of amazing laughter? “What’s the joke about?” Shanice set her bag down on the table and asked, interrupting their conversation. Serena sent a smile her way as Shanice took a seat beside Asher.

“Yeah well, my sleeping pattern has been off-balance lately, so it's only natural that my eating habits will change too. And geez, I can't help being hungry all the time.” “I think you should cut back on the food a little. At this rate, you'll end up being the biggest person I know.” He teased, poking her belly. “You're such a dick.” “But you still love this dick.” “Are you serious right now? Jeff jokes around and laughs his ass out. “Shut up,” “Shut up!” Both Seid and I yell at his not-so-funny joke.
