Thanks to the dedicated care of the nurses and doctors, Grandpa finally came around. On the day Sunny and I visited him at the hospital, a friend request popped up on my phone. I was torn about accepting it. Hannah had been creating new accounts to reach me and calling from unknown numbers. After a brief hesitation, I decided to accept it, ready to set the record straight. I took off for the wild yonder, gazing up at the Milky Way sprawled across the night sky. It was my son's dream. He was a stargazer, an astronomy buff since he was knee-high. On his birthday, he saw his first meteor shower in the wild. Tragically, that same night became his last. I was determined to make his dream come true. The divorce papers, signed by Elias, landed in my mailbox. Maybe it was guilt, but he rewrote the terms, leaving me with a lion's share of our assets. I took it all without batting an eye.

Skylar's POV 1:00 am. My parents were sound asleep in their room. Chicken was sound asleep in my room, curled up on my bed. The moon was up in the night sky, glowing brightly. And I, Skylar Anderson, was dressed up in a black T-shirt and jeans, my favourite denim jacket, and some butt-kicking motorcycle boots. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I realized that I kind of resembled those actors in gangster movies. I looked like one of those sketchy dudes lurking around the creepy alleyways of New York city, having anything but good intentions.

*Skye* “Well done”. Marsden exclaims, his green eyes twinkling with mischief. “I think we can say you clearly won this round Mrs Sinclair and put my son in his place. Bravo!” “Thanks, but please call me Skye”. While Being sassy with Ben seems to have won me some points with Marsden, it still takes everything in my to stop my hand from shaking as I hand him a cookie. Trembles run through me like a slow moving avalanche, and it isn’t just the understandable annoyance causing it. It is also this unexpected and very unwanted attraction to Ben that has every damned nerve ending standing in attention.

I opened my mouth to make the necessary introductions, but Skye beat me to it. “Hello,” he said, his voice trembling ever so slightly. I doubted that Aradia or Ezrand would have picked up on it, but it made my heart swell. God, I loved him. “I’m Skye, Ellis’s mate – I mean nightmate.” He shook his head at himself, embarrassed. “It’s nice to meet you, Skye,” Aradia smiled. “I’m Aradia, the leader of the Sunstone Clan.” “And I’m Ezrand. Second in command, and Aradia’s mate,” he added with a wink.

Skye commented softly, making Marcus frown from this comment. "You know, just because you helped the Dark Dwellers and recovered those missing girls doesn't mean you can belly up. You still have things to do until she comes back-" "I'm tired Marcus, just let me be" Skye interrupted softly, causing Marcus' frown to deepen. "So that's it? You're going to hide in the castle and sulk? We all know that you have been. Not once have you picked up a sword properly for years" Marcus folded his arms, he tilted his head to the left in disapproval.

Now, they seem to rely on each other as they both aim to seek justice and revenge for what happened to me. “You tell him, Gab, of why can't we let him join us in this crazy Supremo thing I am into,” Skye said without giving the phone to Gab despite what she seemed to have ordered the man to do. Instead of handing the phone to Gab, Skye seemed to move a hand to Gab and soon he sat next to Skye. I saw their faces on the screen, right next to each other. “If you appear here, your presence may rattle the water which Skye had just managed to calm after feeding fear to the crocodiles that seemed to be waiting silently for a chance to devour her.”

Blake replied almost immediately. Audrey frowned and sat down beside Blake. "And about your crush, Ixora, have you kissed her yet?" Skye grinned. "Bro, come on," Blake smiled in return. "Look at that, you're even blushing," Skye poked his shoulder. "Don't you have a shoot you should prepare for?" Blake asked. Skye was a model and had been his best friend for ages. "The shoot is in three days, I'll be more than ready by then," he shrugged his shoulders.

She didn't say a word; she just grabbed my hand, her grip surprisingly tight, and began leading me off the dance floor.
