They were biological horrors, wyverns that had been flayed and fitted with jet turbines on their wings and cannons in their mouths.

They were "Sky-Eaters"—bio-engineered wyverns with jet turbines grafted into their wings. The Council's answer to air superiority. One of them, a beast with a wingspan of forty feet and a jaw full of spinning saw-blades, locked onto us. It shrieked—a digital-organic scream that made my blood run cold.
