I requested her to which she nodded. After a little more assurance I was ready to get back into my room and sleep like a baby. With the thought of sleep in my mind, I placed my feet on the floor and tried to stand. My legs felt like jelly and I had to take support of the nightstand to prevent myself from falling.

Tonight was our first official sleepover in the treehouse, and we'd dragged up sleeping bags, flashlights, and enough snacks to last a week. "Tell me a scary story," Avy said, settling into her sleeping bag. "I don't know any scary stories." "Make one up." "Okay, um..." I pointed my flashlight at my face for dramatic effect. "Once upon a time, there was a girl who read so many books that her eyes fell out." "That's not scary, that's stupid." "Fine. There was a boy who was so bad at football that the football grew teeth and ate him." Avy giggled. "You're terrible at this."

I said while pulling my leg from his lap. We both are in our bedroom. When we came back home from office, I was dead tired. Siddharth helps me in shower and we both had our dinner with everyone. After that Siddharth took me to our bedroom for me to take rest. My feet are sore and swollen so Siddharth started giving oil massage to my feet and I protested because I don't like when he touched my feet. "..and how many time I told you, I don't give a shit to these things. Look at your feet, they are red and swollen. You are not living the bed till delivery." He said sternly while gripping my feet tightly to stop me pulling my legs from his lap.

As I wanted to fight now so I decided to focus on getting healthy first. I decided to sleep but when I lay down, I could not fall asleep as my mind still wondered what should be done. I lay there for a long time trying to sleep when I heard the sound of footsteps enter the door. I knew it was James and I don't know why but I pretended to be asleep as he entered the room.

Emily was sleep walking. She had to be. One minute, she was sleeping fitfully in the bed in her room. The next thing she knew, she was padding silently on bare feet past Paoli who was sleeping on the couch. She wanted to cry out for help. But, as with many dreams, she couldn't seem to get her body to work quite right.

“After the way I wrecked you last night? No chance. You needed the rest, love. You need your beauty sleep after a marathon like that.” Heat rushed into my cheeks even as laughter bubbled up. “You’re such a nasty man.” His laugh came low and rough, vibrating through the babies. “Guilty as charged.” I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my bare feet hit the cool floorboards. The moment my weight shifted, I heard it, quick, uneven footsteps thundering down the hallway. High-pitched giggles bounced off the walls, followed by the unmistakable patter of small feet trying to run in unison.

When bed time came they changed my clothes but kept the socks on saying they will keep me warm. I was quite the whole time until they thought I was deep asleep and left the room. Although Crystal was curled up in Nathan’s arms, she slept restlessly. This was due to a recurring, ongoing dream that she was having, where she was being chased. She couldn’t see who was behind her when she looked behind her, but she could hear their footsteps. It was dark in her dream, and she was barefoot. There were thorns and shards of broken glass on the floor, but she knew that she couldn’t let her pain impede her flight. She was panting and sweating, and her feet were cut and scraped, but she kept running. It was so bad that she was exhausted when she woke up, and her limbs were sore.

I spun around to face the offending heels, pointing an accusing finger at them “You, my dear shoes, are beautiful traitors. No more shall you deceive my feet with your alluring exterior” I chuckled at my own theatrics, shaking my head at the absurdity of it all. I blame the lack of sleep for that. A pair of high heels had brought me to my knees, figuratively speaking. If our project was going to be as challenging as surviving a day in those heels, we were in for a rollercoaster ride. I just hope we get it over with quickly so I can finally retire for the day and build up my energy for tomorrow.
