I closed my eyes, ineptly waiting for my sleep to come. *** The beeping sound dragged me back to awareness, making me realize I must have dozed off. It was still dark outside, so I couldn't sleep longer than an hour. Keeping the light out, I sat on the sofa, summoning my rational thinking. The beeping sounded again, drawing my attention to the security room. Motion detectors. Clasping my cheeks, I ran to check what could have activated them. Sucking in a sharp breath, I rubbed my eyes and surveyed the screens. I couldn't see anything, but the sensors told me that someone might be around the house. My heart began to race.

Peaceful, and thankfully silent for once, but now, he’d prefer her to be a little noisy, the silence between the alarm ringing is nerve wrecking. Now, though, that calm feels like glass, but one wrong move and it’ll shatter. The side he slept on is cool to the touch, meaning that he’s been away for a while. The incessant buzz of the smoke detector goes off and I jump out of bed. When I get to the landing, Liam’s already waiting there, a frightened look in his eye. We run downstairs but can’t see Jacob. Sensing that the smell is coming from the kitchen, we go there. He pressed it again and this time, it blinked green. The green light meant that the device had successfully done its job by scanning the area and was now actively disabling any small bugs, hidden microphones, or secret cameras that could have been planted inside the house without his knowledge. Kenny waited for a few seconds, just to be sure the device had finished its work. Once the green light stopped blinking and stayed solid for a few seconds, he let out a deep sigh of relief. Then, he slowly placed the device back into his pocket and looked at Kata.

Shorty after, the red dot started blinking near the circular sitting areas, and I assumed it must mean that there were people passing it. For the next ten seconds or so, there were no more red dots. But then, the red dots started blinking on the door leading in to the house from the garden, and I realized that the intruders might have stepped in to the house. I dropped the phone on the bed and started pacing the house. This was nerve racking. A buzz startled me and I looked towards the bed. At first, I thought it was Elijah's phone, but I realized that it was my own phone.

Someone’s hacking it.” “We’re locked in?” Jace asked. “Worse,” Evan said. “We’ve pretty much triggered every silent alarm in this building.” The power went out and we were in total darkness.

It was a small mansion by the edge of town made of cream-colored brick and elegantly tall windows. As I reached the front door of my house, I noticed a keypad by the door. I frowned, “That wasn’t there before.” At first, I thought of putting in some random combination of numbers just to see. Like my birthday—Denied. Okay, Curtis’ birthday—Denied. Alright, then maybe our wedding anniversary—Denied yet again. The system suddenly began flashing red, and the alarm was tripped off. I could hear it from the inside. I muttered a curse, frustrated at the new development.

“So you do understand.” He stopped abruptly, turned and then let out another growl that vibrated through the floor. Through me, rattling the barrier glass. “Fenrir…” I whispered, my pulse picking up. Something is wrong. Before I could say anything else, an ear deafening sound filled the room, red lights flickering suddenly along the walls.
