Snow covered the whole world in cold white. I laughed, and tears fell with the laughter. But Joanna, I would not live to see three months from now. I was going to die in this winter.

However, the truth was, my name had been cleared. I took care of everything and sold the old house, ready to leave it all behind. Hank sent word he wanted to meet, but I did not want to see him. Outside, the snowmen stood like silent guests waiting for a wedding that would never happen. Nancy, with hands purple from the cold, drew a smile on a snowman's face. She smiled at me, just a little. She looked the same as always, but she seemed really tired. When I opened the door, she ran right into my arms.

LILY The snow hadn’t stopped falling since dusk. It came down in soft sheets, muting the world into something unreal — like the universe itself was holding its breath. Inside the chalet, the fire glowed low and golden, painting the walls in amber. The scent of cedar and smoke filled the air, and somewhere in the distance, a storm rumbled like it couldn’t quite reach us. Jake was by the window, a glass of whiskey in his hand. SKYE'S POV The winter’s first snow was a quiet thing. It didn't howl through the mountain passes or rattle the high stained-glass windows of the castle; it simply drifted down in fat, lazy flakes, dusting the jagged edges of the black basalt peaks until the valley looked like a charcoal drawing washed in milk. I stood by the heavy oak table in the center of the royal chambers, watching a small, pale orange flame dance atop a single beeswax candle.

Zoe was shoved out the front door. By now, the sky had gone completely dark. Snow was falling hard, the wind cutting through her even beneath her thick winter coat. The pain in her body only made the cold feel worse. She hadn’t even gotten up yet when Dylan threw her suitcase out after her. “Take your stuff and get lost!” he barked. With a loud thud, the suitcase slammed into her wrist. A sharp crack rang out. Zoe let out a scream that cut through the night. “Dylan—it hurts! I think my wrist is broken! And my stomach... it really hurts...”

"She didn't save me, Mother. She left me in a cage. And I am done being a king of a cage." He leaned down, his breath hot against her ear. "You wanted her gone because you feared her fire. But you forgot one thing about our bloodline. The Thornes didn't conquer the North with fire. We conquered it with the winter. And I am bringing the winter to every house that forced her out." He pushed past her, leaving her weeping on the stone floor.

He pointed at Wind and bellowed, “Wind Winchester, don’t forget your place! You are just a servant to Jet and Snow here is the direct descendant! “You are a servant and she is the master! Yet you brought this many men here to stop us—this is insubordination! Who gave you the nerve to do that?!” Wind looked at Bass as if he was already dead. He ignored him and switched his attention to Snow. His lustful eyes scrutinized Snow from top to bottom. Snow felt disgusted but she did not reflect her feelings in her expression. She knew it was crucial for her to keep calm, or it would only fuel Wind’s arrogance. “Hehe, Snow Frost. I see you are a calm one.” Wind grinned as he led his men closer to Sno

Devon POV: I stared emotionlessly at the boy who gave me a sleepless night. I was more surprised, hearing this bastard of a man saying he was trading his son to pay his debt. Although, this was what I wanted to achieve, but seeing that he really did it in the blink of an eye got me so pissed that I was willing to snap his neck. I glared at him and turned my focus to his son, whose eyes stared wide-eyed at his crap of a father. I felt a string of pity for him as I watched him. He looked so fragile that he could break if touched.

A huge snow white wolf with scraps of black gold and red cloth hung off of him dropped a few yards away from the Packs. "Tristan!" Shunee screamed and sprinted to him instantly glowing casting an orb of protection over the injured Royal. "MATE!" Rex’s wolf bounded to his side, but bounced off Shunee's orb. Not liking being kept apart from Tristan even for healing, so he paced a circle around him and the beta, waiting for his mate to wake up. The other wolves ran ahead and chased down the Rogues that followed Tristan back to the Pack and questioned them in the Council lock down.
