As rain started to fall, I belatedly remembered how the weather forecast said it would get colder later in the night, and maybe even start to snow. Once it starts snowing in Atlanta, it never seems to stop. I used to dread winter, but Lucas would always wrap me in his coat several sizes larger than I was, keeping a warm blanket available in his car just for me. Looking back now, those moments of so-called happiness were never meant to last. As the rain poured harder, strands of hair stuck damply to my forehead, and my steps wavered almost to the point of collapse. I shook my head and let out a bitter laugh. How did my life end up like this?

I could see him getting anxious and restless in anticipation. "You sure you want it?" I asked, my voice coming out deadly and sharper, laced with Snow's tone. He shook his head greedily. The other wolves ran ahead and chased down the Rogues that followed Tristan back to the Pack and questioned them in the Council lock down.

Her voice sounded so far away. “Ma'am? I need to get the box.” When I finally looked up, I saw that at least 15 people surrounded me. I slowly extended my arm to hand her the box. Someone took that as a sign and handed me a bottle of water. “ Snow?. Snow? You're pale. You should have some water. Snow?” The world spun and then everything went black. When I woke up I was in a hospital room with a nurse by my bed, taking vitals.

The ground stopped shaking, and the remaining Tethers fled, disappearing into the gray plain. The combined key floated down into Lyra’s hand. It glowed with a warm, golden light, and now they could see it clearly—two keys merged into one, with a third key’s power woven into it. “We need to wake it up,” Lyra said. “We need its power to stop the Frost Wraith.” But as she spoke, a figure appeared on the horizon—tall, thin, with white hair that flowed like snow, eyes like ice. The Frost Wraith. He walked toward them, his steps silent, his presence making the air grow colder.

I asked him, and he shook his head. " No, it isn't. This is the first I have heard," he confessed, and I noted it down in my head. I intended to look into it further. "Willows wolfsbane is grown by spirit wolves. Could the hunter be working for a spirit wolf?" Sylvester suggested. " Maybe the hunter is a spirit wolf" Robert stated. " That is not impossible." Sylvester argued, " Willows wolfsbane can kill spirit wolves too. All except for Samantha. She is sort of immune to it. No spirit wolf would shoot a poisoned dart. It has to be a human hunter." Sylvester suggested.

Snow—my white wolf with cold blue eyes—lifted her head. The witch froze. Good. Even without speaking, Snow radiated lethal grace. My body felt heavier, stronger, and wild. Every instinct sharpened. My paws touched the floor with silent promise. The witch’s fingers twitched, drawing runes in a desperate attempt to defend herself, but Snow was already moving. A blur of white. A sharp snap of bones. A wet crack. In the span of a breath, Snow lunged at her, jaws stretching wide. Teeth sank into the witch’s neck and tore through flesh and bone with merciless precision.
