"What misunderstandings do they have? I mean they are the perfect couple." Kri said frowning. "Not everything seems the way it looks. We don't know what is happening in anyone's life." Di said looking outside. "Except you!" I added eating my burger. "What?" She asked shocked. "I mean you actually know what is actually happening in all of our lives right so I am saying generally." I replied confused at her behavior.

Staying close to her might be the very thing that destroys everything. So I will keep my distance. Even if it breaks something in the process.

And both could feel it. The first finally spoke softly. “Sometimes it feels like we keep reaching toward each other from slightly different worlds.” Pain moved through the connection immediately. The second lowered inward. “Yes.” Silence followed. Heavy. Dangerous. Because both sensed the same thing: love alone might not solve the distance. My chest tightened. The first whispered quietly. “But I still keep hoping we will finally arrive at the same place.” The second closed inward for a long moment. Then answered softly. “That hope is what makes this hurt so much.”

Yet here I was, willing to throw my own life away if it only meant they’d be happy. “You seem so distant at times,” Gaia noted, moving closer and gently letting her fingers roam up and down my arm. “Like you’re right here yet miles away.” She wasn’t wrong. I was right here, yet I was a million miles away. Wondering if I could do this and felt that I came up short in many ways. It didn’t mean I wasn’t going to fucking try.
