Something Happened Book Novels & Stories

⸻ 🌙 The Forgotten Name The Book of Origins suddenly appeared. ⸻ Its pages opened automatically. ⸻ Searching. ⸻ Looking. ⸻ Trying to identify her. ⸻ Then the impossible happened. ⸻ Every page became blank. ⸻ 😱 ⸻ The Mother froze. ⸻ The Father stepped backward. ⸻ Even the Witness narrowed its eyes. 👁️ ⸻ Because the Book of Origins recorded everything. ⸻ Everything. ⸻ Yet it contained no record of her.

she replied and I thanked her quickly before hanging up. "What happened?" Liam asked. "One of my employees was found dead right in front of the cafe," I tell him shakily as tears immediately start to stream down my face. What the hell is happening around me?

It’s quite good anyway. Walking towards the door, when suddenly, my clip loosens and fell. I bent down to pick it up. With eyes tuck on the clip, I bumped into something that shaken my hand where my coffee was. A little amount of coffee almost spilled to someone's shirt, but the man’s reflexes were swift that he immediately manages to grasp my hand and pushed it away before it ruins his black shirt. I heard the man cursed and slowly, I lifted my head to meet his gaze.

Thompson said. “Thank you, Mrs. Thompson,” Diana, Eric and Elise chorused. The older woman waved her hand and went out of the library. The five of them stared at the thick book once again. But five minutes passed by, nothing happened. “Uh, well. Let’s just eat something,” Kent suggested and was about to stand up when the book began to tremble all by itself and the five of them looked at it in perplexity. Colors of luminous gold, red, green, silver and pink burst out of the book and spread across the room. Then they felt something cold touch their entire body. Before they knew it, they were all sucked inside the book, screaming.

I wasn’t sure what made me think of her, but we needed all the help we could get. “I’ll summon her,” Tobias said. The stench now further permeated the air, and my mind flashed back to the red book in the library. Also the huge book that Georgia had been in. Raining fire. Then ash. Open fire pits in the ground. It’s happening. How did they get out of it before? Georgia’s book. I had to get it. It happened so fast I barely registered it, but out of my peripheral vision I saw Katrina drop a white bird down the front of her loose dress.

The world seemed to have shrunk, and I shrunk in with it, unable to break free. But hiding has limits. I can't hide for the rest of my life even if I wanted to. The book festival was coming up fast, and as president of the book club, everything was on my shoulders. I couldn’t dodge the responsibility, no matter how badly I wanted to. And unfortunately, the first step of planning was for me to meet the school director. Kael’s mother.

Sophia said to the barman. “A moment please,” the barman said as he went ahead to make the order available. Sophia noticed her sneaker laces were not tight enough, so she bent over to tie them properly, and her name tag came off, as she was about to pick it up, a hairy masculine-looking hand grabbed it first. Sophia went ahead to do her laces and when she was done, she looked up at the young man who picked up her name tag, expecting him to give it to her back immediately but to her surprise he kept mute and kept looking at her.

In the end, the inquisitive one won but first, I listened for footsteps and when I could make out none, I got off the bed and went for the book, flicking its first page open. The only person who could give me a book was Zena but it was also weird, what kind of book it was. It wasn’t the usual one we both read and enjoyed. It was some sort of self-help book and its title was even more weird. “Kicking trauma’s butt with style!”

That night, I knew her body was on the verge of giving in. But that was not how I wanted things to happen. Hell. I don’t even know what I want to happen between us anymore. Katriona was an unexpected twist in this game. I didn’t want to but I found myself suddenly cracking a smile when I read the title of the book she was reading. 101 Ways To Defeat The Northerners. I didn’t know I had such a book hanging inside my house. Had I known, I would have burnt it a long time ago.

And then— My eyes land on the next entry. Agreement dissolved following violent outbreak. Multiple casualties. Cause unknown. I still. Slowly, I flip the page. More details. More names. More death. “No…” I whisper. My fingers tighten on the edge of the page. “Just one,” I murmur to myself. “That doesn’t mean anything. It could just be—” Coincidence or bad timing or human error. Anything but what I’m starting to suspect. I push the book aside and reach for another.
