As the final surge of energy flowed into the synthesizer, Ethan cried out in pain, his body convulsing under the strain.
“Ethan!” I screamed, my heart pounding in my chest.
“I’m fine,” he gasped, though his voice was weak.
I didn’t believe him. I couldn’t. I rushed to the controls, my hands trembling as I tried to stabilize the energy flow.
“Stay with me,” I pleaded, tears streaming down my face. “Please, Ethan. Stay with me.”
“I’m here,” he said softly, his voice barely audible.
The glow around him began to fade, and I knew the process was complete. The synthesizer hummed softly, the vial containing the cure glowing faintly on the other side of the chamber.
