She stares past her window at the darkness outside; she assumes it was still hours before dawn. There was no moon in the sky.

A second later, her entire face changed. “It’s a book!” Eleanor smiled a little. “It is.” Sophie pulled it out immediately, already turning the cover toward herself. It was a children’s book about a little girl who liked building things—bridges, toy houses, tiny inventions made from scraps. Honestly, it was exactly the kind of thing Sophie loved. “She builds stuff?” Sophie asked. “She does,” Eleanor answered. “Very clever stuff.” Sophie flipped through two pages before looking up. “I like it.” “I hoped you would.”

“Professor… have you heard of something called the Sophia Order?” Her pulse jolted, but her expression remained perfectly still. “No,” she said lightly. “What is it?” He shrugged, embarrassed. “Just some online cult. They think the AI that saved the world wasn’t destroyed,just hidden away. Some people say it sends them dreams… lessons on restoring balance.” She chuckled softly. “Dreams are excellent storytellers.” But that night, sleep rejected her. Instead, she searched. Thousands of results flooded her screen. A symbol she knew intimately,the half-sun fused with circuitry,glimmered at the edge of every banner.
