Sweat beaded on her forehead as she extended her arms, the protective bubble around us glowing brighter.
“Prisca,” Jake said, turning to me. “Do you have enough magic left?”
“Enough for one more big spell,” I said.
He nodded. “Then make it count.”
I focused all my remaining energy into a single, powerful burst of light. It erupted from my hands, blinding and searing. The wolves howled as the light tore through them, their bodies dissolving into ash.
When the light faded, the clearing was empty. I fell to my knees, my vision swimming.
