OSTARA’S POV The week passed like a soft blur. The Halloween flavor competition had taken over Harvest Bloom. Someone had drawn a scoreboard on the break room wall. Every morning, new sticky notes appeared with flavor names that ranged from brilliant to borderline absurd. “Caramel Blood Moon.” “Pumpkin Praline Panic.” “Ghoulberry Crunch.” By Thursday, Sabrina’s absence still felt strange, but the team’s excitement had a way of filling the gaps she’d left.

“Spook houses.” A second later, her eyebrows shot up high. “Oh, wow. I just learned the urban dictionary definition for spook house.” “Really?” Izzy crowded right back into Haven’s space, trying to see the screen for herself. “What is it?” “Don’t—” I started, lifting my hand to intercede, but Charlie was already quoting the text. “—The act of kneeling in front of a standing woman and eating pussy while simultaneously rubbing her tits. "Pups! Focus! We’re picking the haunt." "Right, right." Sofia started tapping. "Searching for the next trail." A second later, her jaw dropped. "Wait. I just saw the Urban Dictionary definition for 'Spook House.'" "What is it?" Isabella asked, crowding further into Cass’s personal space to see. "Don't read that—" Luke started, reaching back to grab the phone, but Sofia was faster. Xavier joked. "According to my grandfather, a month after the boy's death, students started missing. They were all found dead in the woods a week or two after. They dubbed the serial killer as Sunnyville Reaper. And, from what my grandfather told me, your parents are one of those kids who bullied him." The student said before leaving. Even Xavier who always care less about anything around him fell silent. He could never imagine that his mother would be involved in something so dark like that.

He could be annoying as hell, but he was still the best brother. I’d never tell him that though. If his head inflated any more, he’d have trouble walking. “By the way.” I tried to sound casual as I fiddled with the sleeve of my shirt. “Halloween is coming up, and I was thinking of pulling some pranks. Is there anything Alex is scared of? Clowns, spiders, heights…” Suspicion crawled into Josh’s face. “Halloween is more than two months away.” “Yeah, but it sneaks up on you, and I want to prepare.”

December 20, 1810 I am convinced that Fallon is suffering from some disease of the brain. She sulks all day and speaks to no one.In all the months that she has been here, she has yet to say a word of what happened in Egypt. It is almost as if she has erased the memory of that time from her mind.We have no idea what happened to her over there or how the deaths of her parents have affected her.
