My appreciation is still mixed, though. They jobbed pretty hard to the Quincy in the final war, which undercut their legendary status. In the end, they felt more like a lore delivery system than fully realized characters, except maybe for Oetsu Nimaiya and his weird sword-forging personality. Their biggest contribution wasn't their power, but the unsettling foundational secrets they revealed about how that world really works.

Can't believe we're still sleeping on Zero Squad's abilities. Their powers aren't just 'stronger' versions of what we see with the Gotei 13; they're conceptually different, tied to the foundation of Soul Society itself.
