The Rejected Luna
He looked as though he had been carved from the night itself, oppressive, commanding, frightening in his stillness.
To his right, a hulking man with cropped blond hair and scars across his jaw rested thick hands on the table. His pale eyes were sharp, predatory. To Roman’s left, a leaner figure, black eyes, sly grin, fingers tapping restlessly against a dagger’s hilt. Behind them, three others, less distinct but still brimming with menace, stood like sentinels, every movement tight with discipline.
Luna’s pulse drummed in her ears. She pressed deeper into the shadows, praying the torchlight wouldn’t shift and reveal her.
