**A New Beginning** The morning sun streamed gently through the windows of the little cottage, casting warm patches of light across the wooden floor. Lillian awoke to the familiar scent of coffee brewing, and a sleepy smile crept onto her face. She stretched, feeling the soft sheets against her skin, savoring the warmth of the bed. The world outside was quiet, as if it, too, was slowly waking up to the promise of a new day.

CHAPTER 60: DAWN Peter and I danced and had fun. He got us some soft drinks and we enjoyed the event till day break. We talked about lots of things enjoying each others company till it was time to leave. Peter will spend the new year with his grandmother so he left London that morning. My mother fried some sweet potatoes known as potatoe chips and complemented it with a meat sauce. According to her, the new year will usher us into bountiful yeilds. We sat on the mat in our room. My mother, Osifa, K**i, Tami and I formed a circle while we ate the delicious potato chips and sauce. It was her first day at work and she had already witnessed so much drama. She was glad to finally see the room, she pushed the glass doors and walked in, the room was too quiet and it was divided into many cubicles, each covered by a person who was busy with his or her desktop. Nobody even noticed that she has entered, she dumbfoundedly looked around, not even knowing where to start, and if she were to stand here and do nothing then she would probably be standing there for hours without being noticed at all.

She's the type of person that naturally attracts the eyes of the people around her. "Nova." The little ball suddenly called out. "Nova...you can call me Nova." I finally understood what he meant. "Why Nova?" I asked "Well. In human language, it means *new beginning*. I met you right after I decided to start again." The little ball didn't specify what and how it happened to him, his weakened state.

I sigh, pushing back my hair away from my face. It's still in the early morning and checking my phone for the time, I see that I have an hour or so before my alarm goes off. Getting out of bed and needing something to keep my mind distracted, I get out of my room and head downstairs. My stomach starts to grumble in hunger and I remember that I didn't exactly eat, before going to bed. Might as well make myself something to eat. I decide on making myself a bowl of coco pops, filling it up. I jump slightly when I turn around and Roman is unexpectedly standing at the doorway.

Proceed with extraction. The war wasn't over. It was just beginning.

Since the day I turned eighteen, it's like that thing that had been simmering inside since the day I first learned the truth went on boil. Maybe it's because, at eighteen, I'm now officially a man. Not when I jumped up to six-two out of nowhere the summer I turned sixteen, or when I found the first hair on my chin before that. Then I was still somewhere between innocent and wannabe tough guy. But as soon as the clock struck twelve-oh-one on the day of my birth, I knew I'd changed course.
