Alexander’s hand found his sidearm—empty, but his fingers curled like claws. “Who the hell are you?”
Marisol smiled, and the fracture widened, revealing a staircase spiraling down into darkness lit by red emergency strips. “I’m the stationmaster. The city’s heart isn’t a seed. It’s a station. And you’re all passengers.”
