A very welcome one." “Who are you?” I managed to say, voicing out the words from my mouth loud, my voice shaking with anger and fear. “My name is Kael. I am the Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack,” he said.

I didn’t answer. I knew that he did not care, Not about me, not about mother, not about anyone else. I did not even understand how she lived with him throughout all this time, but this was what it was to be me, to be her, to be raised, to be obedient, to stand for a man, to do everything for you while you just obeyed. But when my eyes found him, I almost froze. The same man who stood there… He stood at the end of the aisle, beneath a silver arch of twisted branches and moonflowers, his face carved from stone. Don’t be so modest. I know you’re no ordinary person.” Steven gave a faint smile, “Alright. I’m just General Lee’s assistant in the business world.”

I wish I was worth her glare. Jeez! What am I saying.. The man cleared his throat. The mood here was thick and Dad looked to be dozing off.

During his sleep, he would have some outrageous dreams. Sometimes, he dreamed of being a gang leader, ordering his subordinates as he smoked. Sometimes, he was a patient who laid in bed as he waited for someone to take away his heart.

I had caught glimpses of Steven here and there, but unfortunately, I had missed the chance of talking to him. The emcee's voice filled the room as he announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, we finally reached the reason for your presence tonight. Please join me, and let's welcome Steven Hales, our company's new CEO!" The room erupted into applause as Steven walked confidently onto the stage. His majestic presence commanded attention, and I couldn't help but feel proud. He was six feet tall, brown hair, and piercing green eyes, clad in a tailored black suit, he radiated with an aura of success and authority.

Although Dreamscape had been shut down, Steven was still addicted to impersonating me. I strode over and grabbed a glass of ice water from a table. I splashed it on his face. “Steven Anders!” I called. Steven looked up and glared at me with rheumy eyes. “You!” Once he realized it was me, his temper cooled down immediately. He muttered, “I’m leaving. I’m leaving now!”
