POV: Sylvia (One Week Later) The silence in my penthouse was no longer peaceful. It felt heavy, like the air before a devastating storm. For seven days, Zia had been a ghost. She was behind the walls of the Vance estate, protected by a security detail that even Leo couldn't penetrate without starting a literal war.

But that didn’t escalate our shock, this did. We started to hear movement somewhere around the store. Ambrose was behind us, he tried to move closer, and ‘tripped’ on something and fell. Hannah pointed her torch only for us to see that a zombie held Ambrose’s leg, before any action could be taken, the zombie dug her teeth into Ambrose’s leg which made him let out a scream of horror. “Fuck!!!” I yelled and grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed it into the Zombie’s head as she was moving towards us.

Hunter weapons did not work on a vampire as rare as Death. The halls were silent, save for the clicking of our careful steps and heavy breathing. Mr and Mrs Veneziano seemed to know what they were doing, so did my parents. All we needed to do, was make sure we did exactly as we were told. Of course Haydon and I were not known for such things, and secretly, Haydon had decided to think up his own plan, and I did the same, neither one of us uttering our plan to one another or to our parents. Both, uttering a secret goodbye with each step we took, further into my home. This had to end here. Soon, Haydon and I caught a hold of Death’s scent and immediately we gave each other a look.
