Stretching across the horizon like a wound that refused to heal. Aria’s breath trembled. Dax’s grip tightened. The stranger’s final words fell like stone. “They will come by themselves.” The crimson tear pulsed— And something massive shifted behind it. Not one shape. Countless. Moving toward one direction.

Her breath caught. It had been a long time. Too long. And it shouldn’t be this. Not to the sound of a stranger’s voice. Not to someone she hadn’t spoken to. Not to someone she couldn’t trust. But her body didn’t care about any of that. When she came, it was quiet. Shallow. Shameful. The kind that left a sting behind her eyelids. She didn’t sleep again. The next day was warm. As a kneeling Shawn looked between me and the stranger stepping further into the room, I put on a fantastic smile and beamed at the newcomer. “Hey, honey…” Shawn literally convulsed as he struggled to his feet. His hands were shaking; his lips were shaking. “No, no. Elara, no,” he kept muttering, his eyes wide enough to make him look like a bug-eyed goblin. “Not him… Elara… You love me, and I love you… forgive…” He was still rambling when the stranger finally spoke. “Careful, Shawn Lindays. Don’t talk to my woman like that in front of me.”

She giggled at the thought. And Shean finally released the burning heat of lust throughout her being. There seems to be a mysterious and blazing emotion that motivates her to release her screaming desire. She raised one arm to his nape and quickly pulled the man against her. I was happy for him, everything did turn out okay for him. The ocean water was warm as it gently stroked my feet. I lazily strolled on the shore and watched the sky turn dark as each second passed by. I could hear a familiar voice almost shouting at a distance and I whirled around. A couple were talking- more like the guy was raising his voice and the girl remained quiet. On close inspection, I recognized the guy to be none other than my dear big brother Shaun.

The stranger in the robe mumbled a bunch of strange spells, and I felt like bugs were biting me all over. It hurt so much that I could not help but yell. "Shane, Wren! What are you doing to me?" Shane watched me in pain and laughed like a madman. "Hahaha, we're using a spell from Southwind Asira to transfer all my sickness and bad reactions to you! How else am I supposed to have fun with the ladies later?"

He signaled the Howlers and the rogues, and they vanished into the brush with the speed of shadows. "What about us?" Raven asked, her teeth chattering. "We stay," I said. "We cover the tracks." I pulled a handful of grey dust from my pocket—spirit ash. I threw it into the air, whispering a command of obfuscation. The air began to shimmer. The cruiser pulled up to the shore, its tires crunching on the frost-covered gravel. Sheriff Miller stepped out, his flashlight beam cutting through the dark. He was a man who had lived in Blackridge his whole life, a man who tried very hard not to see the monsters in his backyard.
