It was going to be a three tiered chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting. She was going to have a waterfall of blue icing going down all three layers of the cake, ending in a pond at the bottom. She was going to decorate the sides of each tier with flowers, and trees. At the top she was making two wolves that would have their heads tucked together standing in a meadow. It was going to take a lot of work, but I knew she would pull it off. I had also agreed to make my croissants as an appetizer.

IZZY POV We had a quiet dinner that night. Joanna had pulled out the stops, making all of my favorites. I didn’t have an appetite, but I tried everything because I knew it would please her. The strawberry shortcake was the grand finale, done to perfection using sponge cake instead of the biscuits that were traditional. Just the way I liked it. I stood up from the table and turned to Joanna. “Thank you for the most delicious meal,” I said with a smile. Joanna gave me a watery smile back.

Within minutes, I have two filets and some fresh shrimp packaged up. "Dessert." I tap my finger against my chin. To her right, a smaller stick figure labeled ‘Mommy’ stood at a box labeled ‘Bakery.’ Similar rays. The three figures were connected by dotted lines, not solid ones. In the corner, she’d drawn a small, smiling sun. But between the ‘Office’ and the ‘Bakery,’ she’d drawn a thick, black, scribbled wall.

Renai pulled up a smile and invited her to begin. The woman who disclosed her name Varma began mixing up the ingredients. With each passing time, they both began to get free with each other.
