How ironic.
Repressed memory... It's a strange thought, yet it's one that occurs for a purpose. It occurs when a person has experienced significant levels of stress or a traumatic incident, causing the human brain to instinctively filter out the event since it is not one we want to remember, be linked with, or recall.
Although our minds have suppressed the experience from our conscious awareness, emotions from all walks of life still reside in our subconscious as a daily distraction. That is, until someone or something triggers a long-forgotten feeling, touch, or smell, bringing the memory back to life.
