The chair remained. The book remained. But they felt different now. No longer like sacred artifacts. Just memories. Treasured memories. The kind people keep not because they must. Because they want to. The book slowly closed itself. Not dramatically. Not permanently. Gently. Like the final page of a beloved story. Ama watched it happen. Then something unexpected occurred. The cover changed. The title The Last Choice faded. Silver letters dissolved into light. New words slowly appeared. Arthur noticed first. “The title changed.”

It felt good to be here and at the same time, I felt so unsafe. “Enough about these thoughts,” I told myself. I stood up abruptly and went towards the shelf on the second row, with the book in my hand which could be naturally—boring. So, I switched it to something preferable, something that would keep my interest fixed to it and probably scare the shit out of me. The front cover has the name written on it, “The witching year” I muttered. “Perfect."

I couldn't help but sneer at the hint of expectation in his tone. "This is Luna Russell," I said coldly. "I've been trying to reach you. I'm heading to your dormitory now. Be ready to hand over my suitcase." For a moment, there was stunned silence on the other end, clearly not expecting me to call directly. When he finally spoke, his tone was surprisingly calm. "I opened the suitcase today and realized it wasn't mine. It's filled with women's items." I let out a sigh of relief, thinking, 'At least he's admitting it.' I was ready to fight.

Our story, our words, our ending. We did one interview on local newspaper. "What do you want readers to take away?" the journalist asked. Sage answered: "That you can survive manipulation. That you can rebuild." I added: "That second chances are real. If you choose them." "What about Victoria Ashford? Have you heard from her since publication?"

However, as she passed by me, she suddenly stopped. Her eyes fixed on the book in my arms, filled with interest. I followed her gaze, then took out “Don Quixote” and handed it to her. “Do you like this book? You can have it.” I just wanted to get closer to Mark’s family. But the moment I said that, Donna’s eyes turned red. The next second, she covered her mouth and started crying. I panicked a little, not knowing what to say, when a sharp voice came from behind me.

We both did what Mom ordered, and the second we did, I felt as if someone had dragged me out and smacked me, much as when I jumped into a pool. I open my eyes and see a gold wolf in front of me. 'This cannot be happening, cousin.' I heard Marvel link me; how the fuck did we get SWITCHED?

I lifted my phone a little higher, the flashlight catching faint outlines of shelves and books. It looked like… a small library. Seeing this… I had a sudden feeling growing into my chest, so I turned toward the switch and switched on the light. The bulb flickered twice before coming fully on. My lips parted a little. “Wow.” It was small but tidy wooden shelves filled with books, some old files stacked neatly, a small table, I took a few more steps in, my eyes moving over everything. It was strange. It looked like someone had carefully turned it into something else. Something personal.

“She threw her head against the pillows and arched her back as his fingers swirled against…” “As Nicholas moved his fingers in slow circles around her most sensitive spots…” “Nicholas… twisted his hips against her…” “Against… me.” I didn’t mean to do it. I never meant to swap out the male and female leads for ourselves, but it happened before I could stop it. And before I knew it, my hips were warming beneath the sheets, my hand moving down, down toward— Stop it, Kayla. With a frustrated grunt, I chucked the book again, this time clean across the room. It hit the wall and slid to the floor behind the dresser, where I intended to leave it forever.
