Jace sat in the driver’s seat, foot tapping an arrhythmic beat on the floorboard.
“Outer team, status?” Kael’s voice was clear, level. Grounding.
“Outer team is bored,” Jace said. “Outer team would like more explosions.”
“You get explosions if you survive the boring part,” Kael said. He was a block away with a containment unit—Bratva muscle, a couple of freelancers he trusted enough not to shoot each other, and Tessa, who’d insisted on “supervising.”
Lys could almost feel him, even at this distance, like pressure on the air.
