I shifted away from him and all he did was watch me do it without so much as a word. I desperately tried to keep my tears from failing all over my face, but failed miserably. I was hurting and I found that it's not easy to stop an aching heart from spilling tears no matter how hard you try to. And after knowing that the man I loved could never, ever be mine, all I could do was let them come out as much as they possibly could. "Mia please don't cry, you are breaking my heart" he tried to calm me down with his words but they only made it worse. Hot tears kept coming from my eyes at full speed no matter how hard I tried to stop them.

My heart beats wildly in my chest, torn between disbelief and overwhelming joy. Tears prickle at the corners of my eyes, though I fight them back, unwilling to let my emotions spill over in this moment. But it’s impossible not to feel the gravity of what he’s offering me. It’s more than a promise; it’s a future he’s painting with his words, a vision where I am at the center of it all. Each breath felt uneven. “I kept thinking if I was calmer, quieter, more understanding, things would get better.” I laughed weakly, bitterly. “They never did.”

My hair clings to my face like icicles. I would scream. But I have no voice. My throat is desiccated; my vocal cords feel seared. I only gape at the nothing like a fish cast onto shore. And I cry. I don’t know when the tears began, but they’re already there. They run down my face, bite into burned wounds, sear my skin. Even the tears hurt. My heart… My heart is breaking. Not only from the pain. From the image still flickering behind my eyes like a botched, rewound memory.

Chapter Two Ava’s POV The house was eerily quiet, except for the soft rustling of my hands as I packed away the last remnants of my past. I stood in Lily’s bedroom, my fingers tracing over the framed picture of my little girl. Her bright smile was frozen in time, her eyes full of the happiness she had always carried. My chest ached, but I couldn’t cry anymore—there were no tears left. No more pain to wipe on. Slowly, I removed the picture from the wall, placing it gently inside the bag I had set aside. The bag was meant for burning. I didn't want to see anymore of it that will bring pain towards me.

He stared at my photo on the gravestone, his breath ragged, his chest rising and falling in uneven bursts before slowly settling. Then his legs buckled. He dropped to his knees, palms pressing into the dirt as tears fell. "Why did you do this? Why? What am I supposed to do…" His voice was barely a whisper, choked with despair and pain.

Reaching My room, I entered slammed the door, my back hurled against as I slowly pushed down on the floor, tears rolled down my cheeks. Why? Why does my heart always have to suffer for everything?

My sight became hazy, clouded by tears and the reflection of the sun dancing on the polished marble beneath my feet. As the pain deepened, tears rained down my face, flowing freely like a torrential downpour. It felt as if a dam, long sealed, had suddenly burst open, releasing a flood of pent-up emotions. Each tear represented the weight of every heartbreaking experience I had endured. They were tears shed for the countless times the woman I considered my mother had subjected me to beatings. They were tears shed for the irreplaceable loss of my Grandpa.
