The two Hawthorne elders, usually the most vocal in their opposition, exchanged panicked looks and managed a strained, awkward chuckle.
"Andrew, there’s no need to be so hasty."
"Exactly! If our Alpha is this confident, what are we afraid of? Let the investments continue!"
Andrew nodded curtly. "Meeting adjourned."
As he strode out, the elders cornered Daniel Cho, fishing for intel. "He’s usually a nightmare to deal with. Why is he acting like he just won a territory war?"
"Is there some new contract we don't know about? Spill it, Daniel."
